Does someone at NBC think that publicly hanging a respected 15-year veteran journalist out to dry makes for good television? It sure didn't on Thursday, when Ann Curry's farewell as co-host of “The Today Show” made for television that was downright

The “Today” co-host saga took an almost surreal turn Friday morning, with Savannah Guthrie slipping into Ann Curry's old chair and everyone around her, including the network, acting as if nothing had changed.

As Savannah Guthrie sits in Curry's seat Friday, a set source says "you could cut the tension with a knife" before Curry's departure.

Ann Curry had no reason to sob and say she was sorry to her viewers or anyone else for her performance on the Today show. Here's why she didn't drop the ball.
