USS Iowa on way to new home in Southern California

Historic WWII battleship will pass under the Golden Gate Bridge between 2 and 3 p.m., after a week-long delay by weather from its departure.

By LA Chung The USS Iowa passes by Martinez en route to Richmond where it underwent repairs for several months. Paul Craig Get out your flags and cameras ready, folks. The mighty USS Iowa is leaving San Francisco Bay—for real—Saturday.

The USS Iowa left the Port of Richmond Saturday morning for Los Angeles where it will become a floating museum.

The ship is scheduled to dock next month in Los Angeles, where it will become a museum.
